LA Folk Rocker Jake London Brings First Album to Lamon Records

Jake London has a knack for many things. He is a football fanatic, animal lover, outdoors enthusiast, and a novice Italian chef. He enjoys wake boarding, hiking, and fishing. He has an eagerness for taking unique opportunities, cherishing family, and traveling. However, his passion lies in music; picking an old borrowed guitar and writing songs influenced by the greats, classic and modern. Jake London brings his Los Angeles folk-rock sound to Lamon Records Nashville.

Jake London grew up in Portland, Oregon. He was loaned a beat up acoustic guitar from a friend and did little more than pick around on it for months after he began his adult life in L.A. After the death of his older brother by a heart attack at age 30 shook he and his family to their core, Jake took an entirely new outlook on life: life is short, live for today, take every opportunity, do and try everything

This new fervor for new experiences, Jake picked up the borrowed guitar and took it to an open mic night. It was not a stellar debut, but he fell in love with playing for an audience. Music turned from a borrowed guitar and an untapped talent, into a passion and goal.

Although Jake has a natural inclination for music and an effortless rasp to his voice, he spent countless hours honing his guitar skills. With a slew of original songs in his catalog, Jake became a favorite on the competitive residency scene in LA. He won over crowds on a nightly basis. His influences included John Mayer, Ryan Adams, Tom Petty, and Bob Dylan.

Jake reached out to Lamon after sifting through labels in LA. The Nashville connection and music scene is quite different from that in LA and sparked his intrigue. He had experience playing in Music City. His favorite venues include EXIT/IN, The Bluebird Cafe, and 3rd and Lindsley.

“I had hope that my music and songwriting would be well received and perhaps garner some type of connection or opportunity,” says Jake. “By partnering with Lamon, I hope that both my project and myself as an artist gain a much wider national audience. I look to build my fan base, tour in support of my project, and continue making more new music for people to enjoy and relate to.”

“There’s a truthfulness to Jake’s songwriting,” says Dave Moody, Lamon’s Grammy-nominated, Dove Award winning label head. “Our team couldn’t help but tap along to his catchy tunes and vibey production.”

His debut album, “Runaway Heart,” is a collection of original modern folk and country songs. The album was recorded and mixed in LA and will be distributed by Lamon Records Nashville. His first single, “Somewhere Down the Road,” will be released March 31st with a video and the full-length CD from Lamon soon to follow.
