Christian singer-songwriter Ole Gustav Johnsen signed with Lamon Records earlier this year. He made the trip from Norway to record in historic Quad Studios in Nashville. The trip to the United States was a first for Johnsen and the first step in sharing his love for Christ with new fans.
Ole Gustav Johnsen hails from the southern part of Norway and was raised in a Christian home. At the age of 14, however, he observed the life of a classmate who had come back from a three-year mission trip.
“I saw that he had something that I hadn’t. He was both blessed and filled with this pervasive calm. I got to a point where I just needed to have what he had.”
Ole found his voice, literally and figuratively, in his renewed relationship with Christ and involvement in church. He joined worship teams and took chorus classes in high school.
In 2010, Ole auditioned for The X Factor Norway. The experienced built his confidence as a performer. He landed an impressive 8th place, and Ole recalls a sense of joy and peace at the result of The X Factor. He knew he could use this newfound fame to purse God’s purpose for his music.
From there, Ole began writing praise and worship songs, performing them at Christian summer camps and in his church. It didn’t take him long to build a catalog of beautifully written and Biblically based songs. Once he came in contact with the Lamon Records team, choosing just ten of these songs for his first album was a challenge.
“I hope my album will glorify God and mean a great deal to a lot of people here in the States and Scandinavia/Europe. Hopefully it will establish me as a full-time worship artist. I hope for success so that I can continue to grow and work with what has become my number one passion. I also hope to continue to work with Lamon Records: a label I have fallen in love with.”
“Ole is an amazing talent,” says label President Dave Moody, a Grammy nominated and Dove Award winning Artist/Producer. “I was really impressed with his vocal range and style when I watched clips of him from his television appearances in Norway. I thought to myself – this guy can really sing. Then, he sent us some of his original tunes and I knew we had to work with him.”
The Elevating Entertainment crew had a blast filming his two music videos. The church locations inspired him and he, in turn, encouraged the crew with his positive attitude and passion for music. Ole brought a committed spirit to the recording and filming process, along with a healthy dose of international humor. For every friend he made in Nashville, there were jokes about how to properly pronounce his name. But no matter how you say it, Ole Gustav Johnsen makes you feel as though you’re close to his heart – a true Christian value.
Ole’s music videos, “A New Song” and “All About Your Love” – both from his first album with Lamon Records entitled “All About Your Love” will be available before the year ends. Be on the lookout for more news on Ole Gustav Johnsen and other Lamon Records artists at www.lamonrecords.com.
